The short version

Ascent, a new global partner program from Vectra AI, is built around pillars of joint activity that IT Pro named as co-sell, co-market, co-deliver and co-innovate. Partners progress through three levels, Basecamp, Elevate and Summit, IT Pro and TipRanks said. TipRanks said the program shifts emphasis from pure product resale to consultative, service-rich offerings.

  • IT Pro said Vectra AI serves more than 2,000 organizations worldwide and provides technology backed by 39 patents.
  • Vectra AI President and CEO Hitesh Sheth told CRN the change is a "significant evolution" of how the vendor works with partners.
  • GuidePoint Security's Mark Thornberry said AI is accelerating how attacks unfold, raising the stakes for organizations that need to locate their exposure.
  • Solutions Review listed Bitsight, Corelight and Diligent announcements in the same week of security news.

Vectra AI announced a global partner program

CRN reported on September 15, 2026, that Vectra AI is rolling out an overhaul of its channel program aimed at accelerating adoption of AI-powered security in categories such as NDR, or network detection and response. Vectra AI launches Ascent as a global partner program designed to build the expertise, services and joint capabilities needed to help customers address increasingly complex security challenges, the company said in a press release published by Dark Reading on September 18, 2026.

IT Pro reported on September 17, 2026, that Vectra AI serves more than 2,000 organizations worldwide and provides technology backed by 39 patents. The ecosystem Ascent targets includes solution providers, MSSPs, systems integrators, distributors, cloud partners and strategic technology alliances, IT Pro said. Vectra AI has been recognized as a Leader in the 2025 and 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Network Detection and Response, TipRanks reported on September 15, 2026.

Ascent sets joint pillars and named tiers

Ascent is structured around four ways Vectra AI and its partners can create value together, rather than as a traditional reseller program centered primarily on transactions, the company said in the press release published by Dark Reading. IT Pro identified those pillars as co-sell, co-market, co-deliver and co-innovate. Co-sell covers joint account planning, technical validation and executive alignment, while co-market covers campaigns, events, marketing development funds and partner-ready content, according to IT Pro. Partners can expand services around implementation, consulting, managed services and customer success under co-deliver, IT Pro said, and the co-innovate track covers integrations, services and managed offerings intended to let partners differentiate.

Partners joining the program move through three levels, Basecamp, Elevate and Summit, with each designed to provide increasing benefits and joint investment as their business grows with Vectra AI, IT Pro reported. TipRanks said the tier structure is intended to drive higher partner productivity, more recurring services revenue and deeper customer stickiness. The program restructures Vectra AI's channel model around the value-creation pillars and shifts emphasis from pure product resale to consultative, service-rich offerings, TipRanks said. A separate TipRanks report on September 16, 2026, said the company used a LinkedIn post to highlight Ascent as a new global partner program focused on AI-driven cybersecurity, positioned so customers can identify security gaps, enhance returns on existing security investments and improve response speed to emerging threats.

Executives tie the launch to attacker speed

Vectra AI said attackers are using AI to operate at machine speed, exploiting gaps across identities, legitimate credentials, cloud services and trusted tools. Chad Reese, senior vice president and global channel chief at Vectra AI, said "The market need and opportunity is very clear given the impact AI is having on both security technologies and attacker capabilities," IT Pro reported. Reese also said organizations are increasingly looking to trusted advisors as they tackle modern AI security challenges, according to IT Pro.

Hitesh Sheth, president and CEO of Vectra AI, told CRN the revamped channel program represents a "significant evolution of the programmatic approach to how we're dealing with the partners." Sheth said the company had a traditional metal tier structure in the past, "but I don't think we were as tight about the qualification to get into those." Company executives said threat actors are increasingly utilizing AI and agents to move more rapidly across IT systems, leading to faster compromises and greater security risk, CRN reported. Mark Thornberry, senior vice president of partnerships at GuidePoint Security, said in the release published by Dark Reading that AI is accelerating how attacks unfold, "raising the stakes for organizations that need to understand where they are exposed and how to respond before risk becomes business impact."

Other vendors shipped AI security updates that week

Solutions Review published its endpoint security and network monitoring roundup on September 18, 2026, listing vendor announcements from Bitsight, Corelight and Diligent. Bitsight announced new capabilities to unlock exposure and threat data for agentic workflows, including agentic capabilities for managing alert volumes across the supply chain, the Bitsight Model Context Protocol and Bitsight Beacon, which continuously monitors critical vendors for exposure, vulnerabilities, malicious activity, intrusion, stolen credentials and compromise, Solutions Review said.

Corelight revealed new solutions to accelerate AI SOC adoption without losing the transparency, auditability and control that network defense demands, including an Agent Builder Library and Natural Language Query, according to Solutions Review. Diligent announced specialized agents in its Diligent One governance, risk and compliance platform that move risk teams from periodic assessments to continuous management, Solutions Review said.

Tron's take

My read of the week is that Ascent is a channel announcement, not a product release. The sales and services layer is what moves: TipRanks said the emphasis shifts from product resale toward consultative, service-rich offerings, and IT Pro said partners can build implementation, consulting and managed services around the platform. For a 40-person firm, that surfaces as a different conversation with the provider already running detection, not as a new tool to buy.

Two questions are worth putting to any provider that raises Ascent: which tier it holds, and whether managed services under co-deliver are staffed by that partner or by the vendor. Tier language often decides who answers at 2 a.m.

The threat framing in the release is the vendor's own. I would weigh it against independent detection research, including the CrowdStrike findings covered in CrowdStrike: AI Weaponizes Bugs, Buffer Shrinks. That is my reading of the news, not a reported result.

My advice for most small and mid-sized businesses is to keep running the detection and response capabilities already in place rather than re-tooling around a program launched last week. If a current-state review is warranted, XL.net sells managed IT and security assessments, so treat that as an interested recommendation. More on how this desk works is in the methodology.

Questions I'd expect
